Global and International Studies majors are required to gain experiential knowledge of the areas and/or themes covered in their coursework through a semester at the Bard Globalization and International Affairs (BGIA) program or participation in a study abroad program. Some experience in a culture outside of the United States or in an international-focused internship is particularly encouraged. Students who have completed high school education outside the United States may waive the study away requirement. GISP may offer study tours during intersession and vacations.
Bard College sponsors an array of study away programs that connect students from the Annandale campus with our partner institutions across the globe. Students should consult with their academic adviser and/or the program director early on in their college careers to choose the appropriate international experience for their academic interests.
